Pitts S-2C Information
From the time of its first flight in 1944, the Pitts Special was born to become an aerobatic champion. This aircraft has dazzled more air show crowds and has won more aerobatic championship titles than all other aircraft types combined. The latest version, the Pitts S-2C, built in Afton, Wyoming (USA) by Aviat Aircraft Inc., is the only world-class, current production, FAA certified, aerobatic biplane on Earth.
With its state-of-the-art, light-weight and very strong airframe, this newly refined aerodynamic design, is now stronger, lighter, faster and more maneuverable than the old models. It’s now 15 mph faster, has a 300+ degree/sec roll rate, lands easier, and can now withstand a punishing +6/-5 Gs with the flick of the wrist. It is also now fitted with the incredible Hartzell 76″ propeller system as standard equipment, and it easily harnesses the brute force power of the 260 HP Lycoming 540 with its huge new rudder and elevator. For 67 years, the Pitts S-2C has established itself, and built its reputation as the plane to beat in the world of aerobatics. It has rightfully earned the respect, the honor and the hearts of every pilot who has ever proudly flown one.
