Experience the magic of flight as you journey back in time to the 1930s, an unforgettable era when Charles Lindbergh and Amelia Earhart made headlines with their world famous voyages that changed the course of history. Fly in our historic open cockpit WACO biplane that inspired people from all over the world to want to learn to fly so they could experience the magic of flight and see the world from this incredible new aerial perspective. You will fly in the world's only current production, luxury 1935 biplane, the WACO YMF-5C. This aircraft is affectionately known by those who fly them as the "Learjet of the 1930s" and promises to deliver an unforgettable flying adventure for 1 or 2 passengers, as we search for hidden treasures around Los Angeles and Orange County from the air, day or night, in one of the most luxurious biplanes ever built.

Our WACO YMF-5C is the only 1930s open cockpit biplane being flown today that will carry 1 or 2 passengers (up to 340 lbs) in the front cockpit, perform gentle and exciting aerobatics, fly through clouds if necessary, fly at night and also take you for adventurous excursions to near or far destinations the way it was done in the 1930s, low and slow, following roads and enjoying the scenery from 1,000 feet above the ground all the way. Our WACO is the only biplane in the world that is FAA Certified to fly Charters to and from anywhere in the US. This is something that has not been done in over 70 years and we are proud to be the only carrier to offer this kind of flying adventure.

MALIBU, HOLLYWOOD & DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

Total Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
Flight Time: 60 minutes
Aircraft: Waco YMF-5C
Experience Includes: Safety Briefing | Flight | Map of Route

Fly to one of the most famous and expensive beach communities in the world. Affectionately known by those who live here as "27 miles of scenic beauty", Malibu is home to many of the entertainment industry's biggest stars. It is a very private city and can only be viewed properly from the air.

As you gaze down upon the steep sandstone cliffs that plunge violently to the sea from the cockpit of our majestic open cockpit biplane, you can almost imagine yourself as a movie star from the 1930s flying low over the homes of your fellow colleagues as if to show off your new aircraft.

On the way back you will have a gander at the world famous Hollywood Sign, erected in 1923, in 45' high letters, so that it can be seen from many miles away. We will then fly past Griffith Park Observatory, opened in 1935, home to the Foucault Pendulum, and a 305 mm Zeiss telescope. Then join the downtown tour and marvel at the size and beauty of our cities center on the way back to the Fullerton aerodrome. This tour is particularly special at sunset and at night.

SANTA CATALINA ISLAND

Total Time: 1 hour 45 minutes
Flight Time: 80 minutes
Aircraft: Waco YMF-5C
Experience Includes: Safety Briefing | Flight | Map of Route

Visiting Catalina today is like traveling back in time, to somewhere around 1940. While we are circumnavigating this ancient 22 mile long island at or below 1,000' you will begin to understand why Catalina Island was chosen to become the only Channel Island to be commercially developed as a resort.

It is a very special place with its stunning jagged coastline filled with many private beaches, rocky shores and hidden coves, some of which were used by pirates and smugglers to stash their loot over 300 year ago. We will fly over the interior of the island as we traverse along its rugged ridgeline in search of its small population of about 150 wild American Bison that were brought to Catalina Island in 1924 during the making of a movie.

We will then marvel at its stunning 1,000' shear cliffs along its desolate and secret "backside," best known for its world-class dive sites, its majestic and rare kelp forests, that only grow in a few places in the world that are home to an abundant population of many types of fish like the giant sea bass, the bat ray, huge schools of flying fish, sardines, barracuda and the occasional leopard shark. We will over fly the famous "Airport in the Sky" that was built in 1946 on a plateau 1602' up near the islands center so that people could get into and out of the island faster and more efficiently than by boat. On the way back towards Fullerton, we might even catch a glimpse of a pair of blue whales or a huge pod of 100's of dolphins feeding at the surface.

You will then have the opportunity to join the Queen Mary, Long Beach Harbor & Port of Los Angeles Tour to finish this incredible open cockpit flying experience. This epic tour is not to be missed if you are seeking to get the most adventure and best value for the money. This tour package is best enjoyed at sunset and finishing with a night open cockpit view of the city lights and touching down at the Fullerton aerodrome just after dark.
